Communication
It's amazing how easy it is to communicate in this day and time. Cell phone, e-mail, internet...we have the world at our fingertips.
I hope that as I begin my ride May 5th that you will take a moment from time to time to communicate with me via phone call or e-mail. I am sure that your communication will come at the right time when I am needing encouragement and/or a familiar voice.
I also hope that you will take some time to communicate with the Father on my behalf as I ride. The route through southern Utah and Colorado will provide many challenges, but so will Kansas, Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama and Florida. What the challenges will be I don't know but I am guessing that I will have some weather issues, road issues, health issues, bike issues, fatigue issues.... I do praise the Lord that I have friends along the way and I am sure that God has strategically placed them right where I need them to be. He is cool like that.
I know the prayer of righteous folks does a lot of good so I am counting on you to lift me and my journey up to the Father.
Well it's almost time for our Tuesday night Meal & Message here at the Christian Campus House so I should go.
God bless you! bob g.

Preparations Continue
It's crunch time. May 5, 2008 when the first pedal stroke of the Go the Distance fundraising bike ride from Flagstaff, AZ... and the south rim of the Grand Canyon to Gainesville is not far away.
Preparations began last fall and will continue till we fly to Arizona May 3rd. Working through maps, dropping e-mails, making phone calls, determining a daily route occupy my time as well as continuing my training.
Between now and May, I will include a couple of overnight mock trips to go through the routine of riding, reading maps, improvising when needed, dealing with daily and nightly nutrition, setting up and tearing down camp.
In late April Celeste and I will scout out the route from Cedar City Utah to Pueblo Colorado thanks to frequent flyer miles. This section of the route will be the most challenging so to eyeball the route will be invaluable.
What can you do? Pray! Pray as I continue to prepare physically and take care of logistics. Donate! If you want to donate to the Go The Distance Campaign: Send a check to: UFCCH (GTD), P.O. Box 13435, Gainesville, FL 32604-1435. The funds raised will go toward paying off our loans taken out to purchase the new Christian Campus House. You can also donate a box of cliff bars or a night in hotel room, a trip to the massage therapist...there are many ways for you to join me in the journey.

Along the way I will be posting thoughts re: my trip, my experiences, my needs, my interactions with people...it's going to be exciting!
God bless! bob g.
